Faithwalking: Evangelism Meets Transformation

I love the man who runs this organization. He does have an incredible spirit. I have to question, though, the veneer of Transformation on this Evangelical program. When I hear Faithwalking, I hear a group of believers walking for some form of their declaration for Christ. I actually like that. What I am afraid I see here, however, is a well branded, fresh new face on Jehovah’s witness style Evangelism, with GREAT Coaching!! Killer idea, but, please don’t come to my house. I can guarantee you if I come to your house we are going to find that you too need to be saved, yet again, today.

The transformation conversation I would hope to find in a program like this is one of personal responsibility and contribution. Carry a bag of bibles, list of community resources, money orders, food, gift cards for groceries and gas and make some tangible difference, not, in order to get the person to ‘come to Jesus’ and trust me, I have ‘Come to Jesus’ more than once and I will again, I am sure, but rather, in order to meet a need and actually minister. Christ didn’t leave people in their pain as he walked, he met un-meetable needs as he walked, and he did it wisely. That would be THE profound lesson for Faithwalkers, how to minister wisely and that’s as much an internal exploration of relatedness as it is an external practice.

I hope that the ‘soul-winners’ have done their own walking in their own lives before the knock on my door, otherwise, I’m gonna break out my bible and set them straight.

While my Twitter Friend @fabulouslyglamorous, a product review blogger BTW, is speaking to Gay Rights, this is a great opportunity to remind ourselves and those who let us generate ideas in our communities that the same points here hold true for religious and spiritual rights, rights of class, rights of gender (My God since Bill Clinton blamed 21 year Monica L. for his sexual retardation, we’ve had women’s rights creamed, but I digress) and really people, we are talking about fundamental (or inalienable) Human Rights.

Her point is “You don’t get to say how my life goes.” The flip side of that is YOU have to be responsible for the impact of your ‘pursuit of happiness’ and ‘freedom’. We have rights which this blog post points out, but we also have responsibility for how our behavior affects ourselves, our family and friends and our communities.

While this article is cute and addresses the pain that we all go through when we don’t have room to communicate and be accepted and HEARD. I doubt the Obama point about meeting the vision of our founding fathers can be well linked to Perez Hilton. I am clear Perez was NOT their vision for this country. Crap culture and consumerism aren’t sustainable endeavors, however, the right to participate and engage in ‘Your pursuit of happiness” is defendable. Look how far Larry Flint took it. if you are not responsible for how your pursuit of freedom impacts the world around you, you have missed the point, Google Global Warming.

In the meantime, here is one young persons view on Equal Rights. Don’t dismiss it. This is YOU or at least someone who represents the country you live in.

Why I Fight for Equality And Will Keep Doing So Until We Achieve It

This is a very serious topic for me. I know I usually posts things about beauty and makeup and such but I feel so strongly about this topic and I think everyone should be aware of it. I think every person deserves to have the same rights as any other. Your sexual preference is yours to decide. Gay and lesbian individuals deserve all the rights a straight person has. They deserve to be treated with respect, they deserve to marry whom ever they want, and they deserve not to be judged or taunted by anyone because of who they love.

Today more than ever many young kids and teenagers are taking their own lives, because they cannot stand the constant harassment they receive from their peers. Something needs to be done about this. Don’t let anyone look down on another person, because of their sexual preference. It isn’t right; it’s torment.

Please take a look at the two stories below and forward them to everyone you know. It’s so sad, but hopefully it’ll remind people that ignorance is stupid and we need to keep fighting for equality.

This news report combined two of my favorite things, caving and spiritual connectedness and was thrilled to see China honoring the value of culture and spiritual contribution. So thrilled to get this article today.
